What's wrong with a good 'ol fashion *** whoopin' now and then? I think getting bent over the knee of a teacher in front of the class while getting beaten about the head and ears might change some students for the better.

Beating children makes them f'ed up. I'm not against parents occasionally administering a swap on the butt, but that's their choice. Beating a child makes them angry and more violent.

The laws in this country make it impossible to beat kids up these days without being sued or fired or put in jail.

But to answer your question, I am a high school teacher and I get rude, disrespectful kids everyday calling me bad names. Most of these kids are special ed which means they get into trouble a lot for disciplanary problems or bad behavior. Sometimes I just feel like slapping a few students that make my life miserable everyday. Sometimes I even wish those kids were never born because I can already predict that they will be in jail when they get older.
I completely agree that students should be disciplined even to the point of physically punishing them.
Well, I can fantasize in class about doing it but really I can't do it in real life, even though I would really love to hit those kids in the face.

You won't know how hard it is until you go into 7 periods with over 150 kids and have them act up.

Never mind being able to beat them up,we're not even allowed to lay a hand on their shoulder lest it may be misconstrued.

I work in a primary school and I was told by the schools Child Protection Officer that I'm not allowed to offer physical comfort to a child when they are upset eg, put an arm around their shoulder, hug them or if it's a very young child to sit them on my lap.

How else am I supposed to comfort a child?
This is stark example of political correctness gone mad!

As for your question I agree, bring back corporal punishment.
There are at least fifty children at my school that need it!

It's a question that many teachers ask themselves every day.

First and foremost, it's against the law. Secondly, nobody gains from humiliating a student in front of their peers. And lastly, it might provoke a slightly unhinged kid to bring a weapon to school to settle the score.

Cuz it hurts...and I know. Teachers should think of other punishments instead of resulting to violence. Just a question: Are you violent?

For the same reason you can't stone someone in a public square for committing a petty crime, I suppose.
