I am for the death penalty, because 'life in prison' is more cruel than that.

I find it completely wrong. What are we teaching people? That it is okay to kill someone for killing someone or that if you do something really bad you can get off easy because you will get put out of your misery and not have to rememeber what you did? I think that people who do hanis crimes should have to live eith it everyday. They should lock them in a very small cell with pictures of what they did to the people pastered and enlarged, with a light on at all times, and only given the min. of food to sustane the person. I also feel that for people who do hanis crimes against children like Susan Smith should have what they did to those childern done to them over a length of time with out killing them. Like Susan Smith they should put her under water until she can not breath anymore then pull her out, and then repeat the process.
I feel that the death penalty is just an easy way out. People who do horrible things to childern do not get treated very well in prison. I know because my ex was put in prison for abusing my oldest daughter when she was 5 months old and my parents know a CSO in that prison and he use to tell us what was happening to him. And I had some friends that where there with him who knew what he had done. He only got four years but from what I hear it was a very long four years.

Quite generally no, and as others have written it depends upon the crime. Charles manson comes to mind here. So do the people who have been innocent of a crime and killed anyway...This is a hard call. I would have to say the larger percentage of my thinking on this would have to be YES. I would love to say no. I do NOT go for an eye for an eye.....they dont even have that kind of justice in a city. Think about that.

I struggle with this dilemma because spiritually and morally I believe that it is wrong to take a life. However, I'm very human and when I hear of some of the heinous crimes committed I think that it is justified and that there just any other option. Some people just don't deserve to occupy space on the planet.

I am against it. If someone did something really bad then lock them up for life, don't give them the easy way out. Besides, sometimes they sentence a person without analyzing why they did the crime or sometimes there's a chance the person could be innocent.

Mostly against. I'd rather that they sit in a jail cell .. and put up with all the perverts and boring days and lousy life they have there .. let them suffer for life in prison .. why kill them and give them an easy out ? Let 'em rot. Good Luck! :)
