He's had his 2 months immunizations and started on the RSV shots too.

Ask the doctor, it depends on what is going on with your little one medically. It's usually safe to take them outside because germs thrive inside, not outside. I would not let the baby be touched ny anyone you dont know though, or anyone who hasn't washed their hands. You have to be really careful about germs since your baby's immune system will not be strong yet. Also I wouldn't take him/her into stores, or anywhere else that germs thrive.

I would think as long as he is bundled up he would be fine, he will probably sleep the whole time, and the fresh air is good! Like in previous posts, if the doc is sending him home he should be OK. My preemie came home just before x-mas last year, he was not due until Jan 13th! We where told not to go to any x-mas functions or public places (until his due date), but were encouraged to take him out for walks by the ped. He is 10 mths now, and you would never know he was born at 32 weeks he's a big boy !(except he is not crawling or cruising)

You should wait at least 6 weeks from bringing him home. It's going to be cold and depending on where you live it might rain and the wind usually picks up around then. I would see if a family member or a really close friend can either take the other kids or watch the baby. You are subjecting him to harsh weather and at that young they their immune systems are not fully developed and he can catch a nasty cold.

It's very risky - that's close to the beginning of RSV and flu season, and both can be very dangerous for preemies. It will be difficult to keep your baby away from kids who may be infected, if you take him trick-or-treating.

Definitely ask the neonatologist at your NICU and ask your pediatrician. If it were my baby, I'd leave him with relatives or a sitter. Better to be safe than sorry.

No it is the begginning of RSV season, not to mention all the other bugs out. Here we have to drive place to place for trick or treating, If that is the case for you, maybe you can get a friend/ family member to ride with you and sit with him in the car.

My preemie's pediatrician gave me the OK to take him out right away after bringing him home. HOWEVER, he had me wait about a month until I could take him out around people who were not immediate family, and even now, he says just use common sense. I would be a bit careful since this is flu season, though. Check with your doctor, he may give you thumbs up on everything.

Do not take a preemie outside less than a week after discharge!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My preemie twins are still very vulnerable to germs and infection and they are 8 months.

HE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO TRICK OR TREATING. THE DOCTOR WOULD NOT HAVE RELEASED HIM IF HE DID NOT FEEL THAT HE WAS READY FOR THE OUTSIDE WORLD.
