I have owned many cars and several trucks. And know alot of mechanics. Most pasanger vehicles are designed to drive about 400 miles on a tank of gas provided you maintain your vehicle. When someone says 200-300 miles thats cause they put gas in it as soon as the light comes on or just before. When your gas low warning light comes on most vehicles will run 50 or so miles into that before it runs out of gas. Right now i drive an 97 escort 5 speed and if i dont dog it and i do keep it well maintained i can get about 430 miles before my light comes on. I also drive a 02 dakota 3.9 liter. and i get about 340 when my light comes on. I maintain both vechiles religously

This is why so many different vehicles come with such a vast size of gas tank. Thats cause they are all designed to run 400 miles on whatever it can carry
