I know there's lots written about graphics cards but it's hard to tell if they are passively cooled or not. Anything half decent these days makes a lot of noise and I'd rather have the quiet end of the spectrum - but then I don't want a naff card either.

Well that is the problem, anything that runs half way decent puts out a good bit of heat, and therefore needs active cooling. I personally have a Radeone 9600XT, and the fan on it is not loud.

Looks about in your price range, is good quality. My biggest recommendation in your particular price range is to get GDDR3 as opposed to GDDR2, much much better. a million) you will possibly stare on the solar for hrs if it did not harm ur eyes- Prolly 2) dangly rings are extra desirable then studs relies upon. 3) coastline is extra desirable then mountains completely 4) laptop and esp.
