I have noticed that as well. Maybe the people that like to create tacky answers just don't like this site, at least I hope not. This is one site you can get help from. My opinion. Thanks for the question, maybe it will wake us up more. Some questions I don't answer because I really don't know, but I can check resolved questions and learn a lot. Thanks again.

Guess most folks interested in gardening sit and browse through their gardening books or magazines. Also the garden centres provide such a wealth of info. and it is great just walking around looking at all the different types of plants rather than sitting in front of a screen asking questions.

Sadly 95% of schools do not teach Horticulture anymore. So every one goes out on a Sunday to the garden centre and buys everything ready made and they don't even know what they bought, but it is very pretty. This is also why people give me lots of lovely money to 'sort out' their overgrown, ugly gardens. Yummy.

I think there are quite a few. But why don't you ask a gardening type question and I am sure then people will answer.

because most people now are getting there knowledge from the tv hence when people ask about getting rid of weeds the majority of answers are for a product they have seen on tv that is over priced does not work and with a little bit of research they can find some thing a lot better

ummm....because it's not really gardening season in the northern hemisphere right now? :-)
also, there are such great gardening forums out there that perhaps they don't go to Yahoo answers.
i've asked a few questions about my lawn and grass, and gotten very good answers so there seem to be people out there that are interested in it
