The best position for the Ignition Timing fo this pick-up is 10 deg advanced. The computer controls the actual advance and expects to find the BASE timing at 10 deg. Be sure to follow the instructions on the VECI label under the hood. Remove the SPOUT connector before adjusting the timing, and when dome, replace it; Otherwise, you the timing may end up RETARDED by as much as 15 to 22 degrees.
If the timing is within 1 or 2 degrees of 10 degrees, leave it there. There will be no significant gain in performance or reduction of emissions if in that area.
If you choose to jack the timing up beyond the factory spec, it will be a good bet that your pick-up will fail the emissions test.

Good Luck
