Because ur body is getting rid of all the bacteria that has accumulated in ur body for a while. Whe u catch a cold from someone, u are more likely to have caught all their germs in ur bloodstream and you have to get rid of it by letting it come out sometime.

Why Do Colds Exist

A real 'cold' is caused by a rhinovirus. Unfortunately there are over 200 different known rhinoviruses. They also can mutate, so the chance of there ever being a vaccine or a permanent cure is very very low. It is just something we must live through. Try drinking extra fluids to keep things running, so to speak, and take it easy! To avoid future colds, wash your hands frequently and avoid door handles, elevator buttons, and public keyboards!!!
The viruses are passed through touch, and are not airborne!

Cold viruses are clever little buggers, they mutate very quickly, which is why there isn't yet a cure. Try to think of the common cold as a fairly harmless way of strengthening your immune system!
