From what I hear it is more reliable. Haven't used the DeWalt, but have used the Paslode. The Paslode is a maintenance problem. The drawback to the DeWalt is the weight. I believe it is about 4 lbs. heavier, which doesn't sound like much until the end of the day after using it. My suggestion is if you need a trim gun, get a pneumatic first. For the price you can get a decent trim gun and brad gun. They are more reliable and later you can add other tools that use air. I'm thinking about the DeWalt purchase because I have several DeWalt cordless tools already. It would be nice for doors and small repair jobs, but it isn't that high on my priorities, because how hard is it plug in a compressor and roll out a hose?
I look at amazon.com when I think about a purchase that may be slightly expensive. Check out the reviews.

I know from just watching the sales ad's and getting some in the mail that I would not purchase a DeWalt tool. They are constantly on the "resale" list because they are constantly returned to stores. The Paslode nailer is what my hubby uses every day as a framer and he loves it. He said the one he has is older and much lighter then the new Paslode nailers. It's a crap shoot as far as weight goes. I just know from experience that I will not buy a DeWalt tool for my house.

i have never used a paslode, but i own a dewalt and i love it . it shoots nails as well as my pneumatic guns. i also have other dewalt 18 volt tools so dead batterys are rarely an issue. the downside of owning the dewalt is that everyone wants to borrow it.
i finally put my foot down and told the other guys in my company to go buy their own, and they did. even the guy that owned a paslode.

Asfor me, DeWalt is nothing but Black and Decker in Yellow and Black. The Paslode is better. Since I have used them both over the years, I think my answer comes from experience rather advertising.

Can`t compare, but I can tell you the recently down sized paslode has intermitant perfomance glitches. We have 3 new ones. 2 straight nail and one angle. They all have the same problem. After a dozen or so nails are set the "hammer" fails to return to home. All our previous models performed flawlessly under the proper maintentance. Suggest going to home improvement store and test both. Make as many sucessive shots as possible with both. Try to make them fail that`s what the display models are for.

DeWalt has a good name. Most carpenters have their power equipment. They are pros and I don't think they would spend the extra money on junk. We used it on construction and I use it at home. The only one I think is better is Milwaukee.
