My French professor gave us "DRMRSVANDERTRAMPP" to remember the verbs that take être. Only problem is he didn't list them. This is what I have:
Descendre
Rester
Mourir
Recontrer
Sortir
Venir
Aller
Naitre
D?
E?
Retourner
T?
R?
Arriver
Monter
Passer
Partir

(oh and I don't think this includes the derivative verbs, like remonter, repartir etc., that I believe also take être)

hi there! i like French, i wish it really is not any longer stressing you out too a lot :) reminiscent of in English, the French have previous stressful besides: passe compose. To variety the previous stressful, you both could conjugate avoir or etre, searching on the verb. For verbs which contain jouer, manger, reussir, vendre, faire, etc, you ought to apply avoir. the first step in forming the previous stressful is to conjugate avoir, and also you'll see it below the position some different person has kindly carried out it for us. upon getting your verb, you want to characteristic the previous participle. Sounds difficult, in spite of the indisputable fact that it really is not. for most -er verbs, you only drop the r and upload and accent (/) over the e. case in factor, in case you needed to assert "I performed," you'll say "J'ai joue." i don't have accents on my keyboard, so that you ought to imagine that it really is there over the e. For -ir verbs, drop the r, and for -re verbs, drop the re and upload u. of direction, when you consider that it truly is French, there'll be some irregularities, yet you'll come to benefit those in a while. some abnormal previous participles contain fait (faire), ete (/ over both e's) etre, eu (avoir), su (savoir), pu (pouvoir), voulu (vouloir), etc. Now, for etre, you could again, only look below, as some different person has carried out a stunning pastime explaining DR. MRSVANDERTRAMP and different completely satisfied passe-composee-with-etre issues. good success to you in college- i'm no longer there yet, in spite of the indisputable fact that it's going to be time quickly adequate. do not enable French stress you loopy :)

It's rencontrer not recontrer, and it's with avoir.

Reveiller though

EDIT: oops, not réveiller, I was thinking of se réveiller, plus I missed the accent
Re-edit: grrr same goes for rendre.
