Alex Rodriguez even if he is in sort of a slump he is still really good and he is going to hit over 600 homers

Miguel Cabrera.
The guy may not be the best defensive player, but has one hell of an arm. In a couple of years he'll have the position completely mastered.
The thing is, he's only 23 and has been improving his numbers over the years. Less K's, more walks, better average.
If you measure it by market value, don't even hesitate when asked which third baseman is worth more at this moment.

Chipper Jones. Even in a year that he has been on the DL twice he still have 26 HR and 85 RBI.

Eric Chavez, who has five consecutive gold gloves to go along with his solid batting #'s.
I chose him over Rolen who only has SIX gold gloves, btw, because Rolen has been injured 3 of the last 5 seasons.

No one seems to be considering Nick Punto of the Twins, he has been great since he took over third base. Great hitter and in the field.

Once upon a time (say in 1998) I'd say Scott Brosius.

There aren't many good 3b these days. I don't think he's much of a fielder, but I think Miguel Cabrera has the best bat of any 3b.

A Rod. Great individual player, but is not a great team player. I do not know why because he does not seem like a clubhouse problem.
