e.g. get out of iraq

The terrorists just want the west to leave them alone. So if the west did that, there would be no reason for the terrorists to commit terrorist acts.

If we had reduced our influence in Saudi then Osama Bin Laden would not have arisen to become what he is today.
If we had not aided Al Qieda during soviet occupation of Afghanistan Osama would not have become what he is Today.
If Iraq was isolated and not sold Chemical/Biological weapons Saddam would not have remained in power and would not have had the ability to start a war with Iran. A revolutionary Idea but unfortunately to late. Now the western powers have got Oil Greed and somebody has to finance their Army. It costs to much to blow unarmed civilians with cruise missiles somebody has to pay. The west doesn't like to pay when it can scam it off a puppet government.

You are REALLY naive!! Wars have been going on for generations in the Middle East. The Muslims and the Jews and the Christians have been battling over control of the area since the birth of Christ. The Muslims do not just want to be left alone. They want to kill and murder all infidels, and that includes anyone who disagrees with their religious beliefs. Do you really think that if we got out of Iraq that the Arabs would just sit back, breathe a sigh of relief, and let Israel exist as a nation?? Get real!!

Chow!!

No one is going to agree with you simply because the worlds most valuable commodity is under the soil of Muslim countries: oil. The west needs it to drive its economy and the middle east needs the money. Win Win situation.

What it means to leave them alone depends on which side you're on. To UBL, I think it means no western presence in significant geographic areas of the planet. This claim to lands -- as he speaks for billions of people -- is quite collectivist. If some in those areas want to do trade with some in the west, that's great -- for both sides. The terrorists think they somehow have a dictatorial trump against these relationships. Piss on them; in fact, kill them.

So what was the reason for all the terrorist attacks before we were in the Middle east? Your reasoning is flawed and you'll need to come up with something a little better next time.

This wouldn't work on several levels.

Level one: The West needs the oil.
Level two: The Middle East needs the money.
Level three: Most importantly! The Muslim extremists think they have a mandate to convert the world to their religion.

I hope this is clear.

What was it that we were doing to Osama bin Laden while he was in Afghanistan?

Let me see, oh yes, we were leaving him alone. He just decided to murder thousands of innocent men, and children and laugh about it.

Let me tell you something.

You have murderers, and they have to be a bit whacked in the head to murder an innocent person.

You have serial killers who kill dozens of innocent people, and they are really crazy.

Then you have mass murderers, who kill thousands of innocent people. They are so far off the loony scale, they have no idea of reality.

We did leave them alone. Look what happened.

I don't think "leaving them alone" would reduce terrorism, but I also think the war in Iraq was/is a major mistake.

Now THAT's a good question!

Talk about coveting!!! The powers that want their OIL keep agitating and pushing for control over their governments, people and lives in order to get that control.

It's not about religion, terrorism, or anything else but POWER and MONEY.

You've got it wrong, the Muslims want to take over the world for Islam by accession OR the rifle, that's the problem. If we left them alone they would come after us.
