The Sweet Crab Apple, or "Garland-tree," is commonly small and has a short trunk. The obvious distinct characteristic of this tree is its fruit of the apple. The apple is 2.5-3 cm (1-1.25 inches) in diameter, which is obviously smaller than a domestic apple you'd find in the supermarket. These apples are said to be either yellow-green, but can also be reddish. To make sure that a small apple is not actually a cherry, cut open the fruit and look for many seeds, not a pit.

Yes, crabapples have seeds in them, just like any other kind of apple. You might have a hawthorne too though, which closely resembles an apple tree and its fruit in appearance. Apples do not have pits like apricots or peaches.

Apples do not have pits. They all have seeds. They are not a stone fruit. You would be better off trying to identify it by its leaves.

Bring one of the fruits from your tree to a garden center. They will easily be able to tell what it is. Better yet bring a twig with some leaves on it to to make it even easier for them.
