Try listening by your air filter or the whole intake, from fender all the way to the throttle body. Although it could be anything the intake sometimes makes noise, also check alternator, and power seering pump.

It could be your fuel pump. When they start to go bad they start making a humming noise. Will it do it at idle in park? If so get a little dirty and try to hear about where it's coming from. If it's near or at the gas tank it's your fuel pump. If it's near the front of your car and sounds like it's coming from the engine your air filter compartment may not be closed right or the air filter gasket or seal around the air filter may be torn and your hearing the air sucking by the rubber.Or one of the clamps on the tubes to your air cleaner could be loose.
It depends on what it sounds like in real life standing next to your car. These are just educated guesses.

Considering that WE cannot hear the noise, a bit of description could really add a dimension of understanding.
Does it occur
from the engine?
from the outside of the vehicle?
all the time or just when it is running?
only while driving foreword?
all the time the key is on?

Gotta have more information. We are not mind readers, so ya havta help us...

Good Luck

is it a humming or a whinning noise 1st. of all try checking your powersteering fluid level, if low you have a leak and the low fluid level is making your p/s pump work more to pump the fluid.

If stick shift, it could be the throwout bearing at the clutch or it could be a poorly vented gas cap

It's the sound of your ridiculous truck sucking all the money out of your billfold. Enjoy!
