Taking a job in SD soon, and thinking of buying a condo near the ocean. Any thoughts. Other recommended areas? Thanks so much!

Ocean Beach is less desirable than Mission Beach which
(other than South Mission) is less desirable than Pacific Beach,

I think OB and parts of Point Loma are much nicer then PB or MB. You will avoid the college students, crime, and a lot of stand still traffic that way. OB has dog beach too. There are some nice condos in Bay Park across from Fiesta Island.

My brother in law is selling his one Br condo in Cardiff dirt cheap( under $325,000) because of a nasty divorce. Great area, no crime to speak of, not far from Coaster for an easy commute to downtown. Google Cardiff by the Sea or Encinitas to see the area. that other poster is right, OB is much better to buy at then MB
and POint Loma is a good choice cause you are near the beaches and yet avoid the crime and traffic, plus closer to shop

If you can deal with no parking, drunks wandering the streets, and a large transient population, PB/OB is pretty cool.

the biggest problem with OB and PB is the parking.. then again, the whole county has parking problems..
