holy crap I would love to tear down that one dudes engine. You should change it in the same fashion that you would change conventional oil. 3000 miles is too early for conventional or synthetic. 5000 miles is about right no matter what type of oil you use.

The auto maker has it down to a science, they do not want to pay for repairs under warranty and some warranties are to 100,000 miles now. Just follow their recommendations and you'll be safe. Usually you can go about 7,000 miles with synthetic oils, but you can pull a sample for analysis to verify that your service intervals are appropriate for your driving habits.
The best things to happen to gas engines is electronic ignition, fuel injection, unleaded gas and computer controls. These and better engineered products have extended the typical gas engine life to nearly double what they were 40 yrs ago. Regular oil changes and general maintenance is the most important thing to do, not so much what oil you use.
My opinion, oil is required to do too many things. Its main purpose is to lubricate the engine and in some cases as in diesels to also cool the pistions.I use the heaviest oil I can get for engine wear protection, 20W50 Castrol. If your starter, battery cables and battery are good it will start in most weather conditions. Automakers are squeezing out miles per gallon using the thinner oils; I am squeezing out miles of life by using my choices.
Automakers today need to be able to show their products are reliable, so some feature their cars in commercials with 200,000 plus miles on them- unheard of 40 yrs ago. The auto market is extremely competitive and the best percieved product will dominate the market. Today that is looking more and more like Toyota. But the domestices are I feel being unfairly singled out as unreliable. My 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel is a great little truck, and after having it 12 months I feel it was a great choice for me.

in my view, the perfect man made motor oil is Mobil a million.in case you take advantage of that, there must be no mission with going 5000 miles between oil alterations.yet, in case you sense like you nonetheless opt for to do an oil replace each 3000 miles then evaluate Castrol SyntecBlend.it really is not any longer as extreme priced, highly in case you purchase it at the same time as it really is on sale, and it really is an excellent second selection.

People are going to argue about this quite a bit. Todays engine oils are good enough to safely go 6,000 miles between changes. This will vary a little depending on how and where you drive. I change my oil twice a year. At 3,000 miles it still looks fairly new.

The vehicle manufacturer will no doubt suggest a much higher mileage than the figures you quote.
However, more frequent oil and filter changes will ensure MUCH longer service from your engine.
Most experts seem to suggest around 5,000 miles is good; to do it more frequently will clearly not do any harm, but will prove very costly.
