How about an iPod mini? Would that be within your folks' budget? (They're about $50.)

If that's a little too pricey for them, how about a nice book. You'll have to let them know which book to get for you, though, since I don't know your age / reading level or what books you like! :)

My sister in-law gets free movie rentals at her local library, so you might be able to do the same at your's too. While you are there, you can also check to see whether they have music CDs, and they definately have books. They may not be the newest stuff out, but if you are patient eventually they may get what you want. When you buy new releases you pay top dollar, which is a waste of money, because if you just wait a little while for a sale or the price to come down you can save a lot of money. I never buy new releases for that very reason.

Let's see, that leaves just the Nintendo DS and animals. You said that animals are you all time favorite, so the answer seems to be pretty simple to me!

Just ask for a sum of money like 200/300 Dollars. That way you can purchase whatever you wish, or just keep the money! It's much easier than focusing on one thing and wanting the upgraded version a month down the road

Pets are awesome .. but require the whole family to commit so they are NOT the best Christmas present.

For christmas I llike something that will last and be used over a period of time.

I loved to give and get furry sweaters .. especially alpacha or wool. Perhaps a shawl or poncho

I own lots of movies and sorta regret it. I don't watch most of them.

You didn't say who is giving this gift to you. Is it your parents or a relative? If it is a favorite relative, I would possibly ask for a ring or necklace with a nice REAL stone in it (blue sapphire, pink sapphire, Tanzanite, amethyst, ruby or jade - I would say a diamond, but you wouldn't get nice quality stone or setting). This way, you would have this gift for the rest of your life and would be able to pass it down to your child and you would remember the person you gave it to every time you wore it!

You sat that you LOVE to read and you LOVE music. I think a gift certificate to a book/music store would be perfect for you. If there is a Borders bookstore near you they could accomodate both of your LOVES. I too love music and literature... Borders is one place that I shop. You can register with them online and get coupons...combine that with your gift certificate (or card) and you will be able to acquire a lot of fun stuff!

Considering your lists of items you enjoy, I would pick something in the music category because I am big on music. If you don't have one, a karaoke machine might give you a lot of entertainment, just get a good one that you can play back and hear yourself sing.

What's the price range for the gift? If it is feasible for you to go to a library, I would not ask for a book, as you can check one out at anytime. I would pick something I would get a lot of use out of or get to enjoy a lot--maybe a CD or a game.

You'll soon get through the books, etc,so how about a pet? If money is a problem(is'nt it always!)you could go for a small pet that would'nt cost a lot to feed. Hamster, rabbit, along those lines
