tyra banks said that there is no need to splurge on department store makeup because you can get the same thing at the drugstore for less money...her makeup artist gave this lady a makeover with half of her face using department store makeup and the other half of her face with drugstore makeup and no one could tell the difference. Is this true? Which drugstore makeup is good quality and worth buying? is anything comparable to MAC makeup, which brand?

i never used to splurge on makeup. i thought that only insane people would spend over $5 on eyeshadow. i had so many issues with break-outs, oily skin in one place, and dry in another. i started using origins face cleansing regiment, which helps. i then started to realize that my makeup would wear off by the middle of the day. i started wearing bare essentials (which is a mineral based "foundation"). i also wear mac eye makeup. it's the only stuff i've found that doesn't wear off. tyra might have given someone a makeover with drugstore make up, but i'm sure it wore off much quicker than the dept store stuff. besides that ... no drugstore makeup is as bright as mac. if you want color you should spend a bit more on makeup.

well, considering Tyra produces America's Next Top Model and they use Loreal Paris, Covergirl and (can't remember the other brand it was) .. hmm kinda makes you think? seems a bit weird that she says drugstore makeup is just as good as department store makeup...

NYC make up is fabulous, you can find it pretty much everywhere. Their lipsticks are phenomenal, they last forever. Rimmel is a bit more expensive, but their products have a very wide variety of colors and they appeal to all skin types and tones.

In my opinion, they are not all the same. I use Neutragena and LOVE it. Other more expensive brands have caused my face to break out, as well as the less expensive brands.

I don't like department store brands. Sometimes they're faulty or whatnot. You can find better quality make-up elsewhere.

yes and no

a lot of companies use the same manufacturing plants. they use the same formulations, but bottle it differently. There are only three companies that have their own manufacturing plants and that's Avon, Estee Lauder, and Arbonne. Everyone else is sharing manufacturers and formulas.

it depends on the product. usually foundations and powders are the same from anywhere. but eyeshadows are usually worth the extra money. eyeshadows from finer makeup lines seem to blend better and stay on longer!

it depends on your skin and how it responds to certain chemicals.
it depends on your coloring and the colors offered by certain brands
it depends on how it wears. a lot of them may look good right at first but they wear off quickly, or rub off easily. i find that is the biggest difference. (texture/wear)
i use that stuff "bare minerals" powder stuff. it really is as good as they say on the dumb infomercials. it's expensive, but its FAN-TASTIK.
