Turn the flywheel around ,so that the magnets are positioned where the coil mounts.Now place a strip of very thin cardboard(from a birthday card,-spark plug packet,etc)across the magnet,and let the coil stick to the flywheel.Tighten the coil screws, and rotate the flywheel to remove the cardboard.I had a small motor repair shop and i used this method all the time.

For the coil gap use a cover from a book of matches, from the non-metallic part to the coil. The points if you have them is .020 the spark plug is .030. I usually set the coil tightly against the match cover against the coil. Then turn it to see if it clears the magnetic part of fly wheel.

use a paper buisness card place between coil and flywheel push coil against the flywheel thighten coil down then turn flywheel till paper is free >>>also make sure coil wire is off the spark plug during repair you dont want it starting while you have your hands on the flwheel or anywhere else for that matter
