It's not a fair comparison , mad tv is a relatively new show , SNL has been on since the 70's. I'm gonna say SNL , but some of the earlier years.

SNL has the history and an massive crew and you're right, MAD TV is up there too but they have less crew members so it seems like almost every skit has someone from the last skit. They're funny as hell though-it's a great switch from SNL to MAD TV from time to time.

I think back in the days, SNL was much funnier, livelier and much more worth watching then any other sketch comedy (their was a sketch comedy called "Fridays" that no one knew about that actually had Kramer in it) out there.
But, Mad TV is really funny as hell. I mean, they made me laugh so hard. And, before that, there was "In Living Color" that was great.
So, there are somethings that makes me laugh on SNL (that was due to the acts on there now, like Molly Shannon and Will Farrell and such), I still prefer to watch Mad TV.

I grew up with SNL, I watched it from the time it premiered up to about 10 years ago. I love it and still can laugh by *** off just talking about some of the sketches. It was innovative and risky for it's time. MAD TV is just following on it's coattails.

I think SNL used to be awesome, in the 80's-early 90's, but it's horrible now. Mad TV has become absolutely hilarious. It's characters are funnier, edgier, and understandable. SNL has become one of those shows that you can tell is trying to be funny, but is missing the boat.

For a sketch comedy show that is smart, does not use to much humor and turns into crap, funny characters, parodies of living people that are popular, I would go with SNL.

If I want non stop humor, gross out humor, parodies of movies and movie trailers, I would go with MAD TV.

I do prefer SNL, but MAD TV is also funny!

I can't decide which one. I love them both. The E channel had on last weekend the best of SNL and it was funny, so funny that I kept watching it over and over again.

SNL was the standard, but they have been getting less and less funnier. MadTV has been consistent since day one. What kills me is that I am sure the SNL writers get paid a lot better than the MadTV writers even if they suck.

Mad television. a minimum of they pre-plan their skits and understand they're humorous!!! the unique SNL "develop into" planned, yet not often rehearsed and typically ad-lib, it quite is what made it an in one day hit. That develop into funnier than MAD television.

SNL is cooler, but MADD is more insulting and funny. SNL is a traditional thing
