i'm using a friend's computer to import my CD collection but he's very memory-concious and will only let me import, say, ten albums at a time. So after loading them on to my iPod I deleted them from iTunes and imported more CDs. When it was time to load these onto the iPod it rubbed the original ten albums.
Is there anyway to stop this happening?

you can choose to manually update your ipod which allows you to only add music of your choice whilst keeping your original music. Check out your preferences on the pc. If you go to www.apple.com there is a downloadable instruction site which goes into it in more detail.
I had the same problem as i have a mac and my hubby has a pc with different tastes in music and it is fairly easy for me so probably a doddle for others.

On his computer, set the option to automatically update to off. This way it will not automatically update his iTunes to your ipod. Then use the drag and drop method from the library to add songs.

just "borrow" or buy a program called anapod. it allows you to use your ipod like an explorer window. just drag files to the ipod, and drag the off back to your desktop. It will not be anywhere as gay as itunes as far only letting your computer download your ipod. use any ipod, drag/drop any mp3 on and off your ipod. Great Program!!! http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/

not really (I don't think) --- I'm pretty sure that each time you connect your iPod to your PC so that iTunes can do the downloading, that iTunes will replace EVERYTHING on your iPod with whatever's on iTunes, even if your iPod had something on it that iTunes doesn't.

Sucks, huh?

I'll look on my iTunes help to see if I'm wrong, and will edit this answer with any updates.

UPDATE: Coudn't find any way to do what you want to do. Sorry!

Sorry dude, but theres no way.

So if he is allowing you to add then delete, why want he allow you to add all your music, download it to your iPod and then delete them? It's the same freaking thing as adding a few at the time.

Buy you're own computer or a decent mp3 player (iriver, creative) and you won't get ripped off by DRM controlled music tracks.
