Im concered with my mom, who works at a factory packing products. She has told me things about her manager and says that she feels that she doesnt get the same respect as everyone. She is forced to do much harder tasks than the other employees and when she asked for a lighter task like the other employees, she was told (by the manager) to either keep doing her job or go home. She also says that the other employees have recieved gifts, but not her. Although this doesnt bother her, the thought of not being equal to everyone else vexes her. Ive seen her very depressed due to this! She doesnt want to quit because its very hard to find another job. Is there anything she can do? Legal action? just anything? help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oh yes- my mom was talking to a former employee and found out that she had a miscarriage also due to the hard work the manager made her due. Although the lady shouldve considered her health status, doesn't the manager also have to do with it?

I swear- that woman's evil!

She should contact the labor board...make sure she is keeping note of everything. Her manager may be tring to force her out by making her life a living nightmare. My sister is in the same situation after 30 years at her company. They are making her life hard so that she will quit and they can give another person her job for a lesser pay....your mom doesn't need this...I was forced out a job at one time and I quit but only because of the treatment I was receiveing. I tried collecting unemployment until I found another job and they denied me. I got an attorney that proved I was forced out and the manager not only lost her job but I also got my unemployment until I found another job...

Tell your Mom to start keeping a record, dates and what was said to her. She can go to the Dept. of Labor and file a complaint .
If this job has a Union she can contact the Union. If the Supervisor calls your mom in the office to discuss things and she feels that she feels is going to make trouble for her, she should tell her boss, she is requesting a Union Rep. to be present before the discussion continues. She should not be afraid for her boss to see her documenting the conversation. If no union, then the Department of Labor or EEOC. They will direct her. I did and won, and did not lose or leave my job - the boss lost her job.

You said it would be very difficult for your mom to find another job, but I can't imagine things improving much at her current occupation. Even if this matter is dealt with, she will still (most likely) have to work with her manager and it doesn't seem like that could ever be pleasant. This woman sounds like an incredibly unhappy person.

CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR.. or read about the guidelines on line. be sure to have the employee manual for reference everything she is entitled to have is in there. they are very accommodating at the E.E.O.c. AND D.O.L.THEY WERE HELPFUL TO ME AND BASED ON MY SITUATION I GOT A LABOR LAWYER. AND WON MY CASE. IT TOOK 5 YEARS THOUGH.she should collect as many names and addresses and written statements of witnesses. do not be surprised how many people do not want to be involved/

There are laws to protect your mom from such things she needs to report. Start with here boss's boss. Then go to HR. IF all fails go to the state.
