my phone fell out of my bag onto a tiled floor today. Its a sony ericsson w810i. When i switched it back on it keeps saying please insert simcard, even tho the sim is still inside. apparently i might have to pay to get it fixed cos 'I dropped it' which is wrong as it was entirely accidental. Anyone got any ideas how to fix???

I have already removed & put the sim card back in and it wont work. I rang the network and they said i would need to pay as my insurance does not cover accidental damage which im sure it will as that is what insurance is for.
Thanks all for your help

The card has probably just come loose,
Take the card out and put it in again, and you will probably find it will work fine.
These things can stand loads of abuse before finally throwing in the towel, mine falls out of the pocket of my jeans onto the tiled bathroom floor regularly, and it hasn't complained yet, even if it is a bit battle scarred, it has even ended up in a few pieces, but always goes happily back together.
Good Luck!

Try taking out the Sim and wiping it with a damp cloth or duster, then wipe the connectors where the sim goes and it should be ok. I have the same phone and although its never done that, my old one used to all the time and the wiping fixed it every time!
Good Luck!

Take the sim card out of it and put it back in and turn your phone on again?
Or get a car to run over it?

This has also happened to me a few times.
First take out the sim card and blow try not let spit fly out of your mouth. Then put the simcard back, everything should work now.

Do you not have insurance?
Have you tried taking the sim out and giving the sim a clean and the slot it goes into a clean, that sometimes helps mine :)

just call the phone company
or try the service provider
just ask them if there is any way to fix it yourself without paying
