I can understand the need to ask questions that can not be found easily on Google... but why bother to ask strangers questions, especially health related questions, when the answers can be found on WebMD or other reliable sites.

I think it all comes down to the fact that society is becoming more and more inherently lazy. Also it is fun the way Yahoo! makes it into a game by awarding points and the fact that it feels more personal than just reading random facts and text put in front of you.

Perhaps they don't know how, or they don't know that those websites exist. Maybe you should inform them when you come across these questions. Seriously, you would be amazed at some of the things that you may think is common sense and they really have no idea.
