Hey I just watched a documentary called Rock and Roll: THE EARLY DAYS. As you can guess it's about the history of rock n' roll and how it started, but it only covers information until 1959...

What happened to Rock N' Roll after 1959???

Buddy Holly had died in a plane crash along with Ritchie Valens and Big Popper while he was on his last tour with the newcomers.

Did Rock N Roll just last a short period of time and died after 1959? Or has it turned to the modern RnB or some other kind of music?

I was born in 1985 so I don't know much about the history of this music. I find it kinda interesting though. Would someone please tell me more?

Well in the sixties came The Beatles and Bob Dylan and eventually the seventies rolled around with psychedelic rock of Jimi Hendrix, Iron Butterfly, Janis Joplin, and Jefferson Airplane. Of course, Jimi and Janis died tragically, as did John Lennon of The Beatles. Then in the eighties came hair metal, punk, and goth rock, the former glamourizing life of excess which leads to a few more tragic endings. Then in the nineties came grunge, headed by Nirvana, which comepletely killed hair metal and all that it stood for.

By 1959, Rock N' Roll had "won" -- that is, it had squeezed out easy listening and jazz radio stations to become the new mainstream majority. Maybe the makers of the show you saw decided that was a tidy place to quit. Rock triumphant.

it evolved into many deviant forms that in turn split into fractions that we now call dance or trance ,pop ,disco ,hip_hop and grunge ,,to be honest just about all of todays music is a derrivative of rock and roll.our ability to see the ever changing face ,s off old fashioned rock and roll is sometimes overshadowed by our own personal favorites ......
But still it exsists in many ,many forms
