I know that sounds really unprofessional, but I want a willow tree, and my friend has one... is there any way to plants it's seeds or cut of a branch and plant it or how do you do it?

Easy. You cut off a small branch hanging at the tip of the tree, maybe a few, just to make sure this works. Then you stick your branches in a pail of water for a few weeks, making sure you don't let the water level get too low. Soon the branches will start to shoot out white roots. When you get a really fibrous root mass, plant your new willow trees. And make sure you water them well.

Additional information: A willow rooted like this will not send out a tap-like root from the cut end of the stem -- all new roots come from the side. And yes, Black Aliss is very correct: Make sure you trim off the bottom leaves and side branches so no leaves are in the water -- leaves will die and rot and pollute the water. Leave other leaves and branches on the willow though -- those that are above the water line.

willow will root readily without the use of rooting chemicals such as root tone. just take a young branch (preferably in the spring) after the leaves have started to form, remove the bottom few leaves from the branch & stick it in the ground, roots will form where the leaves once were.

Just take a cutting off the donor tree and push it 3 inchs into the ground. It should take off with no problems. Make sure you put it well away from any buildings ect. as they develop huge roots and grow very fast.

You can buy a little packet of this stuff called root toner. Just clip one of the small branches off, wet the end you cut off, dip it in the root toner powder, and then stick it in some good top soil.
