I think my husband is just a rude man, it seems he grew up like that, with no fine manners and a dull sense of humor, I married young and for a long time, but now that I am older I seem to notice the differences and keep wondering what is like to be a with a fine gentleman...A well-mannered and considerate man with high standards of proper behavior: probably talks of fine things, never uses swear words, opens doors for you, tells you how pretty you are or how lucky he is to have you in his life, he probably touches very gently, smiles tenderly and lovingly, holds your hand when walking slowly down the street, these are some of the ideas that I have, but there is so much more... what else?

...and so much more, dear one. Your husband tells you that you're perfect, no matter what size you are. He wipes your tears and always has a strong shoulder to lean on. He respects your right to make your own decisions, and backs you up.

When you walk on the sidewalks, he makes sure you're on the inside, with him nearer to the street. He puts his hand on the small of your back as you're crossing the street. He makes you feel like you're the most important thing in the world to him.

This isn't to say there won't be arguments or slips, but the good FAR outweighs the bad.

Many of these behaviors can be taught, so don't give up hope. Start small, suggesting your husband do some of the easier things, then thank him when he does. Kindness can be taught!

Good luck.

I consider myself to be a gentleman but find that after a while, it is no longer appreciated. I think after a while women find this kind of man boring and less fun than a bad boy . I personally believe that some women like a challenge in their relationships and if a guy is too nice or too polite, there is nothing to work toward. Maybe I haven't found a woman that respects that type of treatment or I'm just unlucky in love but I am starting to think the old saying,"nice guy's finish last" is truer than I once thought.

How boring. Give me a man who is going to challenge me. Not a person that thinks he needs to do everything for me.
