how you become "witty" can be develope by educating your self through studying, going to school or university, reading, internet, hanging out with people from all sorts of life - you will learn at least a thing or two from somebody no matter where they are coming from or what they do in life. it is about be able to connect with somebody, being able to learn how to do something. you may not be as good as a professional but at least you know how to do it, you can say something about the subject. it is about being a well rounded individual rather than excelling only in something specific.

I think in cartoons. If you watch funny shows and comedians like Billy Christal and Robin Williams you will see that they might attach a different meaning to a statement or a twist on an obvious scenario. It's the subtle statement taken out of context that is the unobvious that becomes the wit. It sounds like you are one that picks up on this when someone else makes you laugh and you want to be a person that people laugh with, and know they are not laughing at. Read jokes and funny stories and check out videos or dvd's of comedy acts. Find humor in everything. Imagine a cowboy walking down the street, look at his hat, in your mind turn it sideways and picture his front teeth missing. Now think or say "Yeh, hah, what a cute hunk of raw west, I'd like to hitch a ride to the next rodeo and meet him" then your witty friend says, "Better yet, the clown that drug him away from the bull that did that". Go get 'um girl

Unfortunately you cannot. You can try for a short period but you will revert to being yourself. Is ther a particular reason why you feel pressure to become more witty ? You should realise you don't need ot be witty in life to be a good and interesting person. Personally I find wit tedious after a while if the person is unable to take anything seriously. there is a time and a place for everything !!

You need to be able to make jokes about recent issues and events that are going on in the world. if you read a paper, watch the news etc then this will expand your knowledge of world affairs and this in turn will increase your vocabulary and will make you more witty and interestin. however, on the spur wit is something you are born with. start off just trying to make small jokes with close friends. also dont try too hard because its obvious if you are trying too hard and it will then not be funny. hope this helps!

A comprehensive and thorough understanding of English always helps. To be able to see the nuance and potential double-entendre nature of English.
To understand satire, sarcasm, bathos, and many other concepts within spoken English. To be able to recognise mixed-metaphors, malapropisms, general bad English useage by others.
An excellent general knowledge that allows recall of facts and figures that will support satirical or cutting comments.
It's a way of life. Something that develops over many years. Take a look at Stephen Fry, an immensely well-educated man, and an expert in the humorous manipulation of the spoken word.

Well for starters stop asking how!!! Witty people are people who, along with having a reasonable amount of intelligence, just say the first thing which comes into their heads. Think when you are having a conversation how what people say can sometimes make you think, "yeah right, and pigs fly", it's little things like that (when it's what you actually think), said without any malice or insult meant, but sheer comedy and honesty that make a person witty.

Best way to become witty is to look at something pretty ordinary and imagining what it would make that seemingly boring object funny.
