You know those horrible crane flies (or as I call them, flying daddy longlegs)? There seems to be loads of them around this year and they're absoleutely EVERYWHERE! I'm not one of the brave people who can catch them and throw them out the window or torture them by decapitation. Some people think its an irrational fear but I've found out that they're actually really poisonous but they have no fangs to do anything with the poison. The worst thing is when they disappear from sight and you don't know where they are. I just want to know how many other people are scared of these nasty flying spiders!

No worries as they only live for 2 days. If you lose track of them consider them dead already. If they get caught in your house they simply fly against a window until they die. As they cannot harm you your fear is baseless, it may be based on something else so I would encourage you to explore that....

No dude, youre confusing two different species. Daddy long legs- or Harvestmen, as they're known in the UK- are the ones with powerful venom, but fangs too short to bite a human being. Crane flies, which look kind of like a flying daddy long legs, are a species that feed one nectar only. They are not carnivorous, and they don't have fangs, or a stinger, or any other means to defend themselves. The females have a tool on their abdomens for depositing eggs. It looks kind of like a stinger, but it is not one, and can do no harm at all.Daddy long legs-spiders can not fly. Crane flies don't even live long enough to eat. Most of the species of crane flies live long enough to mate, and nothing more. Theres is no reason to fear either species.

Oh, and they don't eat mosquitos. That's a myth.

Crane flies are not flying spiders. There is no such thing as a flying spider of any kind. They're not spiders at all. Daddy long legs, which are actually called harvestmen, are not spiders either. Craneflies are not big mosquitoes either, which is what they really look like. They are not poisonous. They cannot bite you. Crane flies are harmless. Daddy long legs are harmless. Most spiders are harmless and beneficial as well.

I have no patience with people who squeal every time they see something small and alive. Do you jump up on a chair and scream when you see a mouse? Grow. The. Hell. Up.

I've never heard of them, but I guarantee you if I saw a flying spider, I'd be afraid!

Ugh....they're grosse.

Haha, they're actually not that bad you know... they don't bite or attack, but they do consume mosquitoes. How bad can that be?
