Daughter's hamster is lazy. If he's awake, he's as lively as ever, but he just can't be bothered waking up. He's missed the evening run several times in a row, though at night he still gets up to move stuff about.

Wassup?

He's about 9 months old.

Gah - I have had A LOT of experience
with hamsters - I have gone through so
many it's not even funny . Mainly when I
was a kid - they kept getting loose & they
would end up drowing in the sump pump -
but that is besides the point. Hamsters sleep
ALL day - it's not good to wake them up but I
dont see how every once in a while would hurt .
Mine would always start being active around 8
or 9. Try getting a new cage - one with tubes for
him to run around in & some chew sticks. Also -
mine hamster LOVED the balls that you put them
in - it's a safe way for them to explore rooms without
getting hurt or lost. If you do want to wake him up - try
waking him up & giving him a treat such as a carrot .

I have had three hamsters so far. They did the same thing. Hamsters are nocturnal, they are only awake at night and there is no way to change their internal alarm clock they have there. They wake up late, which for them is actually early. If you wake up a hamster during the day he will just go back to sleep, thats the way they are.

Sometimes hamsters get a bit lazy at the tchange of seasons. But it could also be that he's bored. Putting toys in there like Paper towel tubes filled with tissue and a few treats hidden will encourage him to explore and get a bit more active.

Are you stupid? Hamsters are nocturnal animals which means they are awake at night and sleep during the day, this is because in their native habitat (Syrian desert) it is too hot and risky to come out during the day. You should have checked the facts before you got a hamster.

LOL you think yours is lazy. I hadn't seen hide nor hair of mine for three days. I had to dig him out to find out if he was still alive. Hamsters are nocturnal, they are most active at night. Baby ones (like mine) are usually a bit more active, however mine has just reached sexual maturity so he's starting to sleep more- just like kids really. My kids used to be up at 6am, but now they are getting older I often have to wake them up.

If your hamster is eating and drinking and he poop isn't too soft or runny, your hamster is probably fine.

i've got not had this difficulty, yet i think of all you're able to do is placed on gloves to grant your self with protection from nips, have a container waiting and in simple terms raise him out of the cage in his drowsing state and place him gently interior the container so which you would be unfastened to scrub his cage. He would become completely conscious interior the container because of the numerous scent of the container and attractiveness the place he's rapidly lol, yet he would be ok. according to probability a snack interior his workout ball gets him to climb into it and according to probability whilst he sees how exciting the ball is, you quickly won't would desire to placed a snack into it. Use a snack different than hampster nutrition and that i think of this might advance the prospect he will come across the ball.

I'm hamster minding my son's Hamster at the moment and he sleeps all day and drives me and my partner to distraction on a night. Loves to do his nocturnal jogging bless him. That's what he's used to. You can alter their sleep pattern but it takes a while, constantly waking him through the day and playing and feeding him/her let them out for an bit of investigation. (get one of those balls for them, great idea and it lets them investigate without disappearing)
