And who first purposed this question, I'm guessing Fraude. The glass is half full if filled only half way. The glass is half empty if half of a full filled glass was removed. I understand that it is still half full its how it got that way that I argue and it can really get confrontational with some people. anyone else?

I am completely with you. You understand the metaphor of the example, but you depute the reasoning of negative positive. Kate seems to be the only one that got that and as for "Causufart" get over yourself you are the very example of confrontational this asker is referring. This questioner is the opposite of shallow, it demonstrates a great willingness to the understanding of human behavior..ps notice my name!!!!

If I understand you correctly you are stating that if a glass is only filled half way then it is half full. Yet to be half empty it has to once have been full in order to be half gone. So.......a glass half full has the potential to continue to be filled up which means there is hope for more. Therefore a glass half empty is on its way to being gone meaning there is only what is left and no hope for getting more.

I believe I prefer the one half full for the obvious reason stated above. :)

Look at the glass as your life. Starting with the glass empty. As one moves through out life their experiences increase, for some their life increases more than others. As their life moves on the glass gets higher and higher until something or someone starts to siphon or remove part of their life resulting in the glass half empty.

Is it possible you are both? Or neither? Please don't limit yourself! :-)

It's just two different ways (half full, half empty) of looking at the same thing. It depends on your perspective. Neither way is better or more correct than the other. I wouldn't get all worked up about it if I were you.

you are stubborn ... the concept is how you view life? are you grateful for the half full glass(the things that you have) or are you resentful for the half that is missing(the thiings that you DONT have)? judging by your argumentative nature over this, you are a "half empty" person

it's the positive negative thing...if you see it as half full you are supposed to be optomistic...half empty means you are a pessimist
