Leave it alone, they are there for a purpose. I have older mowers and I wish I had them. I mow for a living and the yards in town are hilly. I have tipped a few times. A man tipped one on him a while back that lives just out of town, he lost his foot over the deal. They have the switches now on them so they don't just ground out the ignition, you also need to be on the seat for the starter to work. That is the type you would have. Too many people were just taking them off.
