My dorm room is kinda dull. What can we decorate with besides posters? We can't use tacks on the wall. We aren't supposed to take out or put more furniture in. We can't have candles, even if they are just decorative.

Rugs, pillows, holiday lights (who says they are only for holidays), figurines, photos, lean a large whiteboard against the wall and draw new pictures on it whenever the mood strikes.

first of all who actually listens to what you can and cannot do in your dorm. i mean most you cant even have a coffee maker in. that aside if you want to do something about your walls you can put fabric on them just go to a fabric store and find one you like it is usually inexpensive. also looks cool hung loosely across the ceiling. you can use super glue on the walls small dots of it to hold stuff on carful not to use to much or it will peel off the paint when you take stuff down. they also sell hooks that are self adhisive but they have the same problem with the paint and some let go when they want so if you deside to use them make sure to get the ones you have that use a heat gun to attach them if the hooks and heat gun attachment are more than you want to spend just ask some other people in the dorms if they want to split the cost and you can all use them. also i agree with the other persons suggestion of holiday lights they make some that come covered in a flexible plastic cover that come in all differant colors ,i like the blue ones, and if you really want candles they sell light bulbs that look like flames :-) have fun enjoy college dont get into too much trouble ;-)

If there are 2 beds in the room and they are on opposite walls and have one side against the wall, turn them into "sofas" by making your own covers from a fabric you both like. Get extra fabric and make big, overstuffed pillows to put up against the wall to lean on and you can use them on the floor too as extra seating when you have friends visit. Also, you can make each bed area into a cozy cocoon by soaking a length of the fabric in liquid starch and applying it to the wall like wallpaper. It doesn't harm the wall and pulls down easily if you don't like it or when the term is over. For cheaper ideas that can be done easily, put beaded trim on your lampshades with redline double-stick tape. Bedside rugs add color and don't have to cost much if you buy plush bathmats instead. Multicolor throw pillows on the beds. Posters can be mounted with tape that is made especially for that purpose...double stick and kind to walls...available in many craft stores. An alternative to posters would be photos of family and friends blown up to 9x13 and framed with matboard only so they can be hung with the poster tape and arranged on the walls collage style.

Use adhesive tape for posters or small pics and mirrors. Use bright colored reds, oranges, greens, yellows in bedding and curtains and throws and rugs and it will be great!
