How much does it cost for sealy or any other company to actually make a bed?

if possibble it would be nice to know how much it cost for each individual piece ex the box spring.Also if you could mention where you got the info that would be great.

I worked on construction at the Sealy Mattress factory in St. Paul, MN. I asked the maintenance man how much the deluxe queen size with the pillow top was. He told me $2200, I asked him what he would charge me to get me one and he said $300. I guess that is probably allowing him to make a little on the deal too. So from that you can see there is a huge mark up. But the people on piece work, there were two to a ma tress and he said they make around $80 thousand a year. For living in the Twin Cities though that is probably an average wage for a blue collar worker. Apparently they had some disgruntled employees, we were there doing the iron work after someone arsoned the place.
