If you don't have an original Windows XP Home (or similar) installation disc DO NOT attempt to 'wipe everything' off your hard drive or you'll never be able to get anything back unless you buy a new installation disc.

Download spyware and adware and run them to see if they will get rid of this nasty. Are you sure that your antivirus is fully up to date??

That wouldnt be the best option to do unless of course you just want to.
The first thing you could do is restart and at boot up right after the first screen press F8 and choose "Last Known Good Configuration. Second thing you could do is the same as above and run in safe mode to run your diagnostics.

Third thing you could do if running winxp is to make sure your system restore is on by using your control panel by clicking on the start menu. Once there, go to system and its under tab System Restore.
Click the start menu and choose RUN. Type MSCONFIG and under the General TAB its should be at the bottom, from there you can choose what day and time of System Checkpoints you can restore your PC.

If in fact that you are running a DELL.... I don't suggest unless you have the Resource Disk and or every disk that came with your DELL product.

If you insist.. I suggest you take it to a Tech and let them assist you.

If thats not your option...lol
Make sure to back up all info before wiping your disk first.
Restart your computer and F8 choose w/Command Prompt and type FDISK and follow the directions: THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED for USERS!!!!! This Entire process takes alot of time and is not worth the risk of user.

Key logger. I sure hope you did not use your credit cards on line. If so, call those banks up immediately and cancel card(s). With that you probably have a worm and/or backdoor trojan. Do a total restore of your computer. When you boot up it will give you a menu of options like Bios Settings, System Restore, etc. Usually you have to press F something. You either have the xp copy in software storage on a virtual drive on the computer or an actual restore cd, unless your xp is pirated. You can restore your system if it is legitimate. Call a computer store for help.

You may not need to wipe your machine. Have you used System Restore? This will restore your computer to a previous state. Select a date before your computer got infected.

Start - All Programs - Accesories - System Tools - System Restore.

download the "azereus" programme from the Internet. then you can get any programme you want for free.. I would recommend using mcafee antispyware.

alternatively take your pc into work and get one of the nice IT guys to sort it out for you. then make them cups of tea FOREVER!

a question for you: how do you know you have a virus if your computer isn't picking it up?
