I am a conservative Republican, which is part of the Republican party. I stand for the following:
1. Abortion is wrong
2. The Republican party has abandoned its principles
3. Way too much regulation
4. Affirmative Action is reverse discrimination
5. Rush Limbaugh is hysterically entertaining and almost always right.
6. We need to stay the course in Iraq
7. Global Warming is a farce. It is at best a theory
8. Cut taxes = more government treasury money
9. Private school vouchers
10. Allow voluntary private Social Security accounts
11. Build a wall on the Mexico border, go after employers who hire illegals and the illegals will leave if they have no work.
12. Environmental regulation has caused most of the high gas prices, along with high gas taxes.
Liberals and most Democrats stand against what I have written.
To correct the inaccuracy of the person above me, Democrats support giving someone the fish; Conservatives support teaching people how to fish for themselves. Once you teach someone how to take care of themselves, they never need a handout again.

There really didn't use to be a huge difference in the two parties. Republicans stood for a more conservative type of government and Democrats were the more liberal arm and there has actually been a good working relationship up to the last 6 plus years.
George W. Bush is a MAJOR difference between the 2 parties. The Republicans have rubber stamped and chose not to question any of his policies and in the beginning of the Iraq war many Democrats were guilty of the same thing. Now as the truth is coming more clear I'm hoping we see a more partisan stance against the Bush administration. Most Repubs & Dems are trying to do what's right but when you have a President who is purposely pitting one against the other we all suffer.

Republicans believe in Government of the people, by the corporations and for the corporations administered by a new aristocracy peopled by the wealthiest Americans. They believe in close to zero regulation of business and environmental protection and near total control of the personal lives of all but their aristocracy.
The Democrats believe in government of the people, by the people, for the people and laws that protect the environment, the safety of workers and the welfare of the people regardless of their wealth or lack of wealth.
Unfortunately, both are beholden to their constituencies and therefore are far more concerned with delivering for their constituencies than in doing what benefits the most people. A perfect example is the lack of legislation to have the Government buy the drugs they are obligated to provide to medicare and medicade customers through a competitive bid process. Instead, they pay full-boat to the drug companies-using OUR money to do so! There are millions of examples of Government using ZERO common sense in the way they do business.
Just follow the money and you will see who each party actually serves.
Personally, I believe the Democrats are the lesser of the two evils since they do at least attempt to help people instead of totally focussing on enriching the wealthy at the expense of the health, safety and welfare of the ordinary citizens.
Bottom line is: They both suck, but the Dems suck a good bit less.

Republicans believe that the nation is best ruled by a couple of people. They want to privatize mostly everything we hold in common so a few peple can control all the resouces.
Democrats believe the nation is best ruled by the people themselves. They favor a mixed economy. They believe in universal healthcare, protection for the environment, valuing society's elders, eradicating poverty, and progressive taxes.

Not much today. But in theory, Republicans are for anything that will bring them the almighty dollar----ANYTHING! They don't care for people that have no money. Democrats claim to represent the working class and at least in the past have instituted programs that helped people. Republicans have never initiated a program that helps people.

Today there are no differences between these parties. When slavery existed, Republicans opposed slavery (in different levels) and "democrats" were in favor of introducing it in any state where most voters approve it.

The Republicans ignore their constituency and don't care the voters know they don't care.
The Democrats go to great lengths to fool their constituents into thinking that they care while making it obvious to the most myoptic that they don't.
The two major political parties are slaves to their national party and beholden to the special interests and corporate sponsors that donate to the national parties. Essentially there is no difference.

Its their philosophical underpinnings. Both parties want to help those who need it.
1.) Democrats do this by making cash payments... forever.
2.) Repubs favor training programs and starvation to motivate people who need help to help themselves.
