Some transparent apologist said here that pedophiles don't distinguish between males and females, the implication being that pedophilia has no connection with homosexuality. That's idiotic. There are homosexual pedophiles and non-homosexual pedophiles. The assertion that priests go for boys because they are available, and not because those priests are homosexuals is ludicrous. These men have likely become priests because they are homosexual and have no problem with celibacy when it comes to marriage. But these men themselves will admit privately that sex between priests and especially in Jesuit groups, is quite common. And sex with altar boys was an anticipated bonus.
As to Foley, he no doubt was grooming these boys for whatever might later develop - wishful thinking of this nature is common with pedophiles, and they know there's a chance it will work. And he may or may not be homosexual in the bargain - but he DOES go after boys - there's more evidence of this than those emails - chat-room logs have been found where he was much more explicit about what he wanted to do with and to boys.
There's a long history of this kind of behavior in a number of cultures - Arabs being one such group. Young boys were (and still are) often used for sex prior to puberty. The same men that did this then turned to women for marriage and children - no questions of homosexuality on their part arose as a result of this practice. Homosexuality in other sorts of relations could lead to death by stoning, for example.

Seriously. The emails may have crossed a few lines, but no where in those emails did they ever ask explicit questions or regard anything explicitly sexual.
Yeah, they were creepy as anything. But I truly think the media made a lot more of them simply because of the whole Governor McGreevey issue.
I think you're a victim of media hype and have fallen to believing everything you hear/read in the media.

Yes pedophilia is on the most part a heterosexual issue. Obviously you know nothing about pedophilia if you think for one moment that a pedophile is even able to distinguish gender of their victims.
Case in point; John Wayne Gacy. Married (twice), Heterosexual, Male who's victims were male SIMPLY because that is who he had ACCESS to.
Catholic Priests, Most are actually heterosexual but they have ACCESS to boys.
MOST child molesters do NOT distinguish the gender of their victims at all. Pre-adolescent boys and girls physically look similar in body shape and stature. These predators don't care WHO their victims are, as long as they're young.
