OOOO I know this! I had a halloween party last year, and I'm having one this year. I have LOADS of tips for you.
Tip #1- Decorations
Because you are outside you want things that will affect the enviroment. Get a fog/bubble machine at target for about $15 and put it somewhere so nobody can see it. Make sure to have lights, spiderwebs, props, and scary anamatronics. Get tombstones, strobelights, and signs. You can look and maybe your mom will let you order some things from: http://www.spirithalloween.com
Tip #2- What party?
Make sure you know what part you are having. Will it be a dance or a lot of games? If you are having a dance, make sure you get the right stereo system and test your music. If you are having a game party, well just make sure you have games set-up. Or is it going to be a social party, where you just hang out and watch movies on the lawn?
Tip #3- FOOD!
Make sure you have enough food for all of your guest, and make it spooky oriented.
Tip #4- Invitations
Make invitations ahead of time.
Just a little extra....
Make sure you get LOTS of help for setting up! A party can be VERY stressful and takes lots of work, but overall they are well worth it!
Good Luck! HAVE FUN! Happy Halloween!

I have the best idea When i was 10 years old my father did this party for me, And when he did it i carried it on to my children, now its you, ok, here it goes you will need a cellar a dark cellar, maybe like 4 to 5 card tables set up, ok, You will need number 1 cooked spaghetti in a bowl, two grapes peeled or a couple, a peice of granmas fur coat, or rabbit fur, The insides of a pumpkin in a bowl all in seperate bowls, and water in a dish, maybe, ketsup in a bowl, What to do at the party, Tell the kids as they come in the door to come down to the cellar and shut off the lights guide them one by one lay out all equpment all bowls before hand, Take there hands and tell them a story as you go along I went to work one day and ran over a CAT, And have them touch the cats guts which would be the spaghetti, there eyes would be grapes, there intestines would be pumpkin mess, and the water would be their urine, the sauce would be blood and there fur will be the fur of the cat, or catsup will be blood, TGhen when they scream put on the lighs and show them , and go on to the next kid, and it gets soo fun, when they are that age, they dont know what to expect, but please tell the parents of the kids what you are doing, some parents will not agree, But it it soo fun to see them going through this, Just remeber the story, That you ran over the cat, and go from bowl to bowl, you try it before the kids and see how fun and how eird that those items feel like in the dark,

What you need: toilet paper
A person to stand in the middle
and some kids
Separate into groups of about 3 and have the kids wrap the person in the middle with the toilet paper. When you call out stop the team that has the most of the person covered at team would win(I don't know if it would be to young for teens though)

Well you could go out and buy a lot of toliet paper and divide the kids into teams and have one of them be the mummy. Then the kids must wrap their "mummy" as quick as possible. The first team to get their mummy completely wrapped wins.
Also go to this website they have some good ideas:http://www.hersheys.com/trickortreats/halloween-costume-idea/halloween-party-idea.asp

Well there always is bobbing for apples in a cauldron, Pin the tail on a bat, horns on the devil. costume contests.
Identifying body parts. you get everyday stuff and turn out the lights and pass it around -mushy stuff. a seance not real of course and you have someone make sounds from another part of the house. Thats just a few things I can think of.
They have jello molds of bats and ghosts, and orange and black jello, you can make the punch fog.
