I have to write a paper about areas in science that involve ethical issues... some of the examples include cloning, the genome project, in vitro fertilization, etc.

I want a topic that's interesting, NEW, and fun to write about. Any suggestions?? I'm not really up to date with all the new technology and stuff so I need help!

Possible ideas:

What should become of frozen embryos that the parents no longer want to implant, themselves, because they do not want any more children?
Is it wrong to fertilize many eggs in vitro, when some of them will not "take" or will be discarded? Is "selective reduction" morally wrong (read up on this procedure -- part of some in vitro attempts)?
If parents have frozen embryos in storage, what should become of them if the parents divorce?
Is removing a feeding tube letting nature take its course, or is it active euthanasia? Who should have the right to say whether the tube is removed if the patient can't communicate their wishes? -- as in the Terry Schiavo case, in which her parents were willing to be her guardians/caregivers but her husband wanted the feeding discontinued?
Mercy killing is against the law in many areas -- but is it also morally wrong?
Read up on the use of high doses of pain medication in Hospice programs -- then discuss, is this right or wrong, in terms of providing comfort vs some people's view that it enables addiction and can shorten the person's life. Would medical use of marijuana be right or wrong?
Should marijuana be legalized -- what would be the good and/or bad effects, including morally?
