Personally...anytime you have a loved one in your life. I honestly agree that it should not be just once a year. Just endure the passion of love in your heart...and truly love and respect that woman in your life. Why just once a year...take it further...make it a philosophy of life. ; )

The actual celebration i don't know but it believe it dates back to Roman Times when a Priest named Valentine continued to perform marriages after the emperor forbid the practice

It was an ancient French pagan celebration that was later incorporated into the Catholic Church. Some fanatical Christians say it's evil because it has pagan origins, but screw them. If they had any brains, they wouldn't be religious anyway.
