i would like to know what it means when it says rated rookie on a baseball card. please help me.

When it says "Rated Rookie" on the baseball card means that they may have seen Major league action, but they are still technicaly rookies, and can still win Rookie of the Year Award. Some players are brought up to the majors for a tryout to see how much they improved since being drafted, however that doesn't mean that its their rookie year.
They can still be considered a rookie if they are only brought up for a short time and than sent back down. I belive for a poistion player its something like 250 or 300 AB's before they aren't considered rookies anymore.

A rookie is a first year player. If he has a rating, I suppose he's being compared to the other rookies for that year.

it means they are good players but still rookies
