First you will need to have a host...just because you have the domain name, doesn't mean you have a place to show it from. There are several ISP's out there that advertise hosting. Yahoo and MSN are 2 of them and of course others..... shop around for rates and extras. PixelPieDomains.com is one I have worked with for hosting and domains.
Next you can use the programs that come with sites like GeoCities (Yahoo) etc that allow you to create a site with their programs....can be tricky at best...not very professional.
Or you can either hire someone to do that for you...(most professional) sometimes you can get IT Students to do this pretty cheaply, or do it yourself....
Frontpage Express by microsoft is probably the friendliest I've used. However you can also use other programs. I've also used one called Website Creator and it's ok...but also trickey to use.
I would still recommend Frontpage Express. If you don't know Web Page creation, you're best to use a really basic and simple program or hire someone to do it.
Lastly... How easy do you want to be able to access your site and update it? How are you going to promote it? Rank it?Submit it? All of this costs money and takes some time to get going. It won't do you any good to have a site out there if no one is going to see it.
A good website professional will be able to create a nice site for you and know resources for all of the above. Well worth the expense and lack of headache.

Most web hosting companies offer Web Page Design Tools as a free service. They are simple to use and powerful enough to build sites. Do a research on this. I have found yahoo web hosting to be a good option http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/?p=1
If your site will have less than 20 pages or so, it might not be a good idea to buy a very expensive html editor and not use it often. Some free editors might be an economical option.
You will need some editors. Learning about HTML mark-up language here, it should be fun, although you can create websites without a single knowledge about mark-ups!!
(A) http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_examples.asp
(B) Free HTML Editors are
http://www.alleycode.com/
http://www.chami.com/html-kit/
1. Gather all the information required for your site, text, photos, pictures, logos, get images scanned and store them in jpg or gif file format
2. Have a look at other similar sites related to yours. See how they are linking information from one page to another and what they offer.
3. Create index.html (the step 2 should now help you develop this page, use the editors to create this page (B) or you can use the notepad that comes with windows.
4. Add texts, photos, create other pages, and link pages from one to another.
5. once you have your site ready, you will want to get it hosted. Learn more about this at yahoo.com just type "web hosting"

Yes, you need a web design program. I've tried and use FrontPage. dreamweaver is expensive and I found it more difficult. But there are more. Ignore advice about using an FTP program - get one - just in case - from coffeecup theirs is free! NVU is also a free web design program. Look at my website. My email address is on every page and if I can help I will. I can tell you where to get you web space from. I use the space provided by my ISP - only 15 Mb so take a good look around and see what I've done with it. if your ISP has given you space you may not have to buy any!!

It's not easy .... In order to produce a good site.... companies and professionals use anywhere from 5-20 programs while being well versed in them all.
Microsoft front page, dream weaver... etc
not to mention programs for graphic design
photoshop, illustrator... etc..

You need FTP client like (http://www.smartftp.com/) and basic HTML knowledge in order to write the pages and upload them using the FTP client. Remember that you must own server space (somewhere to store the files) and not only a domain name.
You can also use Dreamweaver if you want to spend some bucks.

well depends on how easy you want to it be. and how complex the site needs to be.
you could use something like microsoft office frontpage which is all drag and drop. no html coding knowledge required.
but most sites are made with a combo of html and flash for the intro page.

it will depend on what you domain sever will let you use there are a lot of different programs one of the easiest is Front Page. there are some domain servers that have a wizard and you build it right on their server with their programing and no other programs are allowed ..so you need to find out what you server allows.
