Not one decent answer so far.

Snakes look for two things: food and shelter. There's not much you can do about the food part, but you can provide a nice shelter habitat that may attract snakes.

First off, locate an area with a decent amount of food supply. A field would be perfect as they usually have plenty of mice, but an area close to a water source should work as well.

After you find a nice location, go out and get several clay roofing tiles. The kind that are in the shape of a half-pipe. Place a couple of them end to end or even a second pair right next to each other and cover them with large river rocks about the size of a large grapefruit. You want to creat an environment that is easy to enter, yet will make them feel secure.

Good luck!

Snakes are everywhere. You just haven't seen them yet, but you will. They are elusive by nature and love to hide under rocks, logs and leaves. If you have a lot of lizards there is probably a snake of some sort taking advantage of that food source. They do not like humans and they work very hard to avoid people.

I use to run around a 310 acre farm with a pond and lots of woods and I would hardly ever see a snake, though they were probably out there by the hundreds. When I did see one it was always by accident. The snake and I would both be surprised! Be patient, one day you will run across one. When you do, do not harass it. Leave it be and it will go on its way to return another day.

Good Luck and Take Care

You should never try to attract any wild snakes because you could end up with more than you can handle. But if you are interested in studying them then you should got to school and learn all about them and their hunting habits. However if you want to catch a snake use a live snake trap and put mice in it and Waite.

Why do you want snakes? Have you heard of the python epidemic in the Everglades? Yikes!

Anyway, there is a site (I did a quick Yahoo search) called "Snakes of Tennessee", which looks pretty good. They DO remind y'all that there are rattlesnakes, cottonmouths and copperheads, so watch out! Water snakes are often venomous.

Go to this site and check it out:

I think I will too, since I love snakes! By the way, there's a big warning sign there that in TN, it's illegal to remove snakes from the wild, even if you just want them to scamper on your lawn!

Capture a single snake and hold it hostage. The snakes will try to invade and will send in a team of elite commando ninja snakes to free the hostage while the others act as a diversion, but you will no what is going on so you will use sleeping gas and snakes traps to capture the snakes acting as a diversion. As for the commandos buy a false robot snake that fires darts with tranquilizer from its mouth so that when the snakes try to free it you will also capture them.

why would you want to do that?!

well, the motivation for most animals is food. often, you can buy live mice specifically for feeding snakes. other than that, i can't think of any methods, unless you actually go out and look in, like, wherever a snake might live. an abandoned rodent burrow, perhaps, or a tree.

Umm...why would you want to attract wild snakes?

There's really no way to "attract" snakes. They do whatever their instincts tell them to.

It's ill-advised to handle wild snakes anyway, unless you're experienced in the field. You could get a nasty bite that could either be poisonous or become infected.

My aunt bought a log cabin near Byrdstown, Tennessee and has been searching for Black Bear. She is fascinated with them, but has never seen one. When she stopped looking, one walked right past her kitchen window. Perhaps if you stop looking so hard, they might show up at your front door. Ringnecks used to climb in my hiking boots at night when I took them off. Put a pair of boots out.
