I find your blind optimism that this is even possible overwhelmingly amusing

Ever since I started putting my son to sleep and waking him up in the morning I have had the same routine. We say our prayers together at night, then I sing him a little song I made up and we kiss goodnight. In the morning, I also give him a kiss on top of his head and say "Sweetie, it's time to get up". Sometimes I can tell that he is extra sleepy so I give him 5, 10 or 15 extra minutes depending on his mood. The minutes he uses to sleep in are taken away from his play time in the morning before school.

Once he is awake, I give him a big hug and say "Good morning Sunshine!". It may seem corny but it always brings a great big smile to his face.

This routine has been working for us now for over 9 years.

I believe that if you want your child to wake up happy then he needs to go to bed happy. A good, consistent routine will help you with this. Your positive attitude will go a long way with your children. I know that sometimes it is hard to be in a good mood yourself in the morning but you need to try your best. On those mornings that you just can't seem to get a smile on your face ask for extra help, either from your children or your mate.

MAKE? I think thats a strong word to use. I would not make them get up with smiling faces. That would be like asking an adult to be full of energy and ready to go at 11:00PM, it dont happen.
However, if your asking how you can help get your children off on the right foot in the mornings then that is different. Depending on how old they are, you can try singing to them (for little ones). My mom use to wake me up by turning on one light, then 10 mins later she would turn on another, then 10 mins later she would come hug me or talk to me. That gave me some time to snooze in and made my mornings more bearable. It allowed me to either go back to bed, or get up if I wanted to spend extra time getting ready in the morning or something. Hope this helps!

kids will never get up with fresh smiling faces. they rather sleep in. try letting them go to bed earlier so they will be more rested in the morning. before they get up have breakfast ready so the delicious smell will put a smile on their faces.

I have been trying that with my Daughter for years...just aint happened yet!

Send them to bed early, (even if they complain), and make SURE they do enough exercise during the day to get "tired" and will sleep through the night.

If they have something to "look forward" to, they may be in a better mood, but, you can only do that every so often, but when its a school day, forgeddaboutit...they are "not" going to be happy campers LOL!!!

I wish you well..

I think you're asking for too much! Be glad if you can just get them out of bed!

(Making them go to bed at a decent time the night before should help though!)

yes, how?
22 years later I still haven't achieved it.
get used to the idea and to the long faces when they wake up. I think kids these days are simply not getting good sleep and it's simply impossible for them to wake up fresh and relaxed.

get them to think positively. and have them appreciate the little things in life...and then they will start looking forward to little things that their day has that they might enjoy.this also does depend on the age of your kids. and make sure not to over do it..like bribing them with something, teach them to do it themselves
ex:
a book that they are not finished with that they cant wait to finish
a class project always was fun for me
what supper is that night
BREAKFAST
being with friends

it really helps me get up in the morning.

hope that helps!
