could be many things but the first thing that comes to mind for your ford is that the small plastic throttle valve bushing broke off the cable @ the throttle linkage causing your trans not to shift.
look for a cable @ your throttle linkage on your engine that is not attached

Could be linkage out of adjustment or damaged, reverse ban out, low pressure valve body malfunction. You really need to bite the bullet and pay for a diagnostic check, it coil be any number of things. It is worthless as a trade until you repair it, it may cost the same to repair it as it is worth. But overall it is less cost to repair than to trade and go in debt for a newer car if a transmission repair will cure the ill.

I'm leaning toward plugged tranny filter if it's auto, if it's stick, linkage,tranny gears inside tranny

is it straight drive or automatic, if its an automatic i would have to say its the modulator valve, straight drive id have to say you tore it out.
