1) Right-click on an empty spot of your desktop.
2) Click 'Arrange Icons By'
3) Uncheck 'Show Desktop Icons'.

Why not just right click on the desktop, Then go to Arrange Icons By: Then hit the Show Desktop Icons. There all gone now, TY

When you have more than one user on a computer they are set up with individual desktop icons.. if hey have individual accounts .. that can be made to reflect a persons likes... your deleting anything from your desktop will not show on any one else's desktop.. if you have individual accounts that is..

Does everyone sign on with a different user ID or is the same ID shared by all. If everyone has to sign on with a different userID and password, then you can do anything to your desktop customization and it will not change theirs. If the computer boots up and everyone uses it without a separate logon, then anything you do on the desktop will be seen by everyone.
