I don't know how anybody other than a family member would influence a person that much! That would seem very strange to me.

I'd have to say that my husband has had the most effect on me. My own family tended to be somewhat reserved and easily offended. In the 35 years I've been with my husband, I've learned not to be that way.

I would say that person was myself.I never wanted to be the same as the family. I wanted to be the best I could be,honest, helpful, giving to a certain extend and not letting people walk all over me,having a back bone. I am today a stong person.
socially excepted by all, sucessful at my job, live a realistic normal life.

I'd have to say my best friend Sonjia from 7th grade. She has cerebral pulsy and she was in one of my classes. She just turned around one day and we started talking. She never let her handicap get in the way. When we went to the Roller Rink she refused to be let in free just because she wasn't able to get on roller skates. We had the best times and I learned so much from her.

My best friend, Teresa. She has faced so many problems (ie cancer) and never once complained. She always kept a smile on her face and held up a brave front. I try to be more like that in all aspects of my life.

My boyfriend Paul. He pointed out to me things I hadn't realized, like for instance how much I let people treat me like a doormat. He showed me how to be more assertive without necessarily yelling at people or losing my innate personality. He helped me understand that you could still be a "nice person" without being their whipping boy as well.

I will have to say I did. I am sorry if that sounds self centered. My parents had ideas and attitudes that I didn't like, so I chose not to be like that.

My Dear Friend in Wichita, Marge. 20 years my senior- she became my mentor, sounding board, tutor, advisor. A dumb kid straight out of college- she befriended me to that strange land- and I will forever miss her. Thanks for the memories.
