The only thing I can see is possibly "screen" is a metaphor--unless there's a literal screen between him and the lagoon?

Its not a metaphor, simile or a personification . Example of a metaphor - its raining cats and dogs. simile- comparison using like or as, example- she was stalking her prey like a lion. Personification, giving human qualities to an object or an animal, example- the digital clock read 12:00, winking at me as if it knew my secret.

I don't see any of those literary devices in use in that sentence. Of course, you didn't punctuate it properly, so who knows what else you may have omitted.

i think maybe a metaphor. its nun of the others.
