Well, to begin with.. There is no Jr at the end of George's name.

Second, Henry Kissinger was a recipient of the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize for helping to end the Vietnam War.

Dr. Kissinger is one of the most respectied foreign policy analysts in the world. When Kissinger took over the Vietnam file that you refer to, it was already the 1970s, and we hasn't directing the conflict to win it but to withdraw US troops with honour. The war which was started and managed mostly by Democrats in the Johnson administration had already been lost by the time the Nixon administration came to power in 1969.

Because George Walker Bush knows no better.

I heard a reporter ask George W.'s parents if George W. takes advice from his father, and Mama Bush spoke up and said "No, he gets his advice from me so I am really running the country."

P.S. The Vietnam war was left over as Eisenhower's unfinished business, passed on to Kennedy, accelorated by Johnson and lost by Nixon.

Do you know for a fact that any military action (if any at ALL) was based on words from HK to Bush? Aren't you aware that Bush talks to, and gets advice from a lot of different people from all walks of life on the Iraq war?
Q: Should he instead take advice from you? I think I know what you would tell him.
I'm not trying to be insulting, but complaints about something you can't do anything about instead of offering beneficial alternatives reflects one-sided thought processes when analyzing why others DO what they do, (though the use of this forum is a gallant attempt - Kudos to you for that!)

Kissinger still knows people behind the scenes all over the planet.

He is still influential among them.

Bush would be foolish to ignore Kissinger's advice. he may or may not follow a given suggestion, but any reasonable bright or self interested individual would hear such a man out.

Just not you apparently.

Hey,let me tell you that Former Secretary of State,Henry Kissinger really has it on the ball. Don't let his age fool you.
Just because he's retired doesn't mean he doesn't keep up with current events.

Whether you realize it or not, Kissinger is a genius. Maybe you will be lucky enough to read about him one day.

The VC were depleted after the tet offensive, we won militarily, but the hippies and dems had eroded support for the war on the homefront. We lost the war on the homefront. I hope the dems dont bring back their winning strategy for the war on terrror. There is a reason they are seen as the party of weakness.

You beat me to this question. Henry Kissinger, the man who said,
"Sometimes you have to destroy a village to save it." Could he also be saying to Bush, "Sometimes you have to destroy a country (Iraq) to save it." or "Sometimes you have to destroy a country (America-culture wars and large debt) to save it?"

I shudder!
