If you can feel a tampon, it isn't in far enough.

Try using an applicator tampon as they can help get the position right. Find a comfortable position, and when you put it in, aim towards the small of your back.

You should change a tampon every 4-6 hours, and use the lowest possible absorbency to last for this amount of time. High absorbency tampons, and leaving them in for a long time can cause toxic shock syndrome.

Keep trying, and if it continues to be uncomfortable, go and see a doctor, as it may be that your hymen isn't fully stretched, and this can be done surgically. Most people find that with practice putting a tampon in becomes second nature.

I believe that if it makes you uncomforterable than you should check with you Gynocologist. I do know for a fact thought that it is not safe to wear a tampon from 6:30am until 4:30 am. There is a condition called toxic-shock syndrom which can be caused from the use of tampons. You could find out more information on the information packet that comes in boxes of tampons. If I were you I would find out more from you doctor.

Yes, it takes a while to get used to inserting them. First of all make sure you are using the right size, they now make junior tampons. Second, make sure you are inserting them correctly. They do not go in straight up and down, they have to sort of be aimed at a slight upwards angle towards you bottom. Make sure you have them in as high as you can get it or it will be uncomfortable and feel like you have something falling out of you. I wouldn't leave 1 tampon in all day because there is a risk of getting toxic shock syndrome. Change them regularly through the day. Don't think that just because it is called a Super it will last for hours. Keep practicing and it will get easier. Good Luck!

Try relaxing your muscles when inserting it, and maybe try a different size. Or you could try a different brand- some are longer, or more round, etc. You'll eventually find a brand you prefer. As for changing at school--it all depends on your flow amount. On a heavy day, don't expect to be able to go the whole day without changing. And consider a pantyliner to catch overflow if needed. Also pay attention to the angle you are using. You should be pointing it slightly angled towards the back of your body- not straight up and not forward. Good Luck!

Well if you read the instructions it tells you , you can go up to 8 hours without changing them, however i have never waited that long to change a tampon, you can get "toxic shock syndrom" but you can also get this if you change the tampon too often, so a happy medium would be change it every 4-5 hours depending on how heavy your flow is.... it should not be uncomfortable once it is in because tht usually means it has not been put in right, it should slide in with ease.... ~Cheers!~

there are different types of tampons so try them out to see if you feel more comfortable with any of them. I prefer OB's as they are smaller and you insert them with your finger versus using any of those applicators. I never liked them myself. You will get faster at putting them in as you get more comfortable with them so do not worry about that. Once you get used to them, you will enjoy them more as you will be able to feel more comfortable in tampons versus the pads. Although you can wear the tampons most of the day, depends on how heavy the flow (menstruation) is, I would recommend that you maybe change maybe twice a day instead of going from 6:30 through 4:30 which seems to be a bit long. It will keep you cleaner and feeling fresher. You do not want to stay with a tampon that has been inside you that long. Besides remember, once you get used to them, it will only take a few seconds to change. The new tampons are very discrete and you can carry them in cute little pouches on even your jean pockets. Practice putting them in and out and although they say it is ok, I would recommend NOT to sleep with them inside you.

You will get used to them over time and will get better at inserting them. Perhaps try standing instead of sitting or visa versa depending on how you currently insert them.

And you should change the tampon regularly. The point isn't to see how long you can go - this is unhealthy and can lead to TSS. Read the information that comes with the tampons, it will explain all of this to you.

And talk to you OBGYN. If you are getting you period it's time to start seeing an OBGYN.

You will get quicker and no you should'nt leave them in for to long, when it gets easier you'll be able to change them quicker then you can pee lol. Try not to worry about it, we've all been there. When you take them out take a nice deep breath and breath out to relax as you remove it. If they are hurting while in then you hav'nt put them in far enough, it's not the nicest place to be but try crouching in frount of the toilet to put them in, you'll soon know how your body bends and shapes and you wont need to crouch. Good Luck and remember it's normal and it gets easier.

It will get easier as you do it more. 10 hours it too long though. According to Playtex, "In order to reduce your risk of TSS, you should choose the minimum absorbency needed to control your menstrual flow and make sure that you change your tampon every 4 to 8 hours. "

With practice, you'll get faster and they will get more comfortable. But you should definitely change your tampon at least once while you're at school, more often, depending upon how heavy your flow is.
